A long time ago a stumbler said that he had been able to use KDE application in one window and GNOME in another. I have installed Mandriva Spring (discovery) recently. I am new to Linux and have not decided which desktop and applications are most useful.
Could some one, please, tell me how I can have both applications? I am given a choice when I log in. Thank you for your help

You mean you want to run a native KDE app in Gnome and vice versa?

I mean that on desktop window I would like KDE and on another one GNOME. At the moment I have 4 desktop windows. So in one window I would like to run all the KDE application and on another GNOME. Is that possible, please?

Um, What would be your base window manager manager, KDE, Gnome, Enlightenment? I suppose you could run X inside another session, but that would be hard on the resources.

I think he wants to run KDE/Gnome/Enlightenment/Flux (The window managers) *IN* a window, Which is bizarre when you can run KDE app in Gnome and vice versa with the appropriate libs.

6 that is what I thought to as the other answers are too obvious or maybe one workspace gnome the other kde you get my drift?

7: Actually, That would be really cool, I've never seen such a thing, Primarily because the 'workspaces' are implemented by the window manager, So I'm not sure about the practicality (and the resources X would take up :S) of switching window managers within workspaces, If you have KDM/GDM you can just logout anyway and switch window managers.

Right and with all the many environments imagine if you could have spaces for 3 or 4

9: Holy hell man, If you had a powerful box, Gnome/KDE/Flux/Enlightenment in different workspaces would be off the hook.
