I hear there are major developments at the moment going on in the X11 project, looking at massively overhauling the code base to allow full transparency, new interaction methods, among a host of other things. Can't remember the name of the new modules, something Egyptian (Sahara maybe?). Haven't heard much about this in a while, though, and knowing X11.org it could have just stalled again. But once that comes in, all interfaces should be far more attractive, as well as being more functional. |

or maybe people have no originality. |

Try not to forget that Linux is all about alternatives, choice and freedom. If your goal is to force people to use the system you personally use, you should be working for MicroSoft.
XFCE is a perfectly valid option. But as far as eye candy goes, Gnome and KDE offer prettier interfaces, in my opinion. Not better, just prettier. If you happen to think grey squares are prettier than shiny blue curves, then you're in luck, there's an interface that's perfect for you: XFCE.
Try not to take offence and start slagging off people who happen to use a different brand of Linux to you. You should be celebrating the variety of choices available to suit everyone - that is, after all, the whole point of Linux. |

But really, I wouldn't want to force anybody to use Xfce, because we all know "it's Fail"...whatever that means.
...and I do embrace diversity...I just think the negativity started somewhere with the words "ugly" and "Fail"....and then turned into a vibe of "OSX theme" or nothing else at all...and to me, that seems more like the close minded vibe of Microsoft rather then my pride for a small independent OS... |

Viva le difference mate, and maybe choose your 'jokes' with a little more humour and a little less "insult everyone different to me". |

| | | crimesaucer | Jun 26, 2007 6:20am | Well, the opposite of pretty is what word?
I might have been the first to actually say the word "ugly", but xfce being ugly was implied before I made my first comment, and then re-applied afterwards.
And yeah, I did mentioned OSX first...
To each their own...
and who f****** cares. |
